Herminia Bierema, MD  FAAP

Dr. Bierema has been in practice since 1987. She did her undergraduate work at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor with a major in Nutrition. She then went to Michigan State University College of Human Medicine for her M.D. degree. Her residency training was completed at William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak.

Dr. Bierema has always enjoyed teaching and since she left residency she has always done some form teaching. She is currently involved with the William Beaumont Hospital – Troy Family Medicine Residency program, Rochester Hills Community Schools practicum program and mentor programs. She has also had medical students, pediatric residents, medical assistant and physician assistant students work in the office. It is not infrequent to find various students at different levels of training following Dr. Bierema.

Dr. Bierema is married and has three children. She has personal experience with family members with chronic illnesses and has a daughter who has had a heart transplant and physical disabilities. She is aware of the challenge families face with various issues that arise taking care of children with special needs.

In the community, Dr. Bierema has been involved with Boy Scouts, served in the Notre Dame Preparatory School Board from 2002-2009, and participated in various other projects. Dr. Bierema is bilingual and speaks Spanish when needed.
